A bit of levity?

I went to University after USN service - was in a history class with a teacher who lived in Japan for a few decades.

One day the topic of Chinese Eunuch came up. Somehow the conversation got around to "what was removed" at what age.

I first learned exactly WHAT a Eunuch is (or was?) - the part removed was NOT the testicles! Quite a few of the class also didn't know that either!!! The part removed o_O being the part that gets really stiff under certain situations. Yikes?

Also, the "donor" had to be reasonably mature in age - way past puberty - so that their bodies properly developed into strong men.

My guess is even Chinese men without gonads could still get a stiffy and poke the empress?
