I think it depends on which side of your body you prefer to sleep on.
Most would want to sleep, face to the side, not to the middle; I believe?

With that facing out, and to the preferred side choice, the below is a factor.....

a )If your partner snores, then you would want to face away from them.
b) If your partner is gassy, then having that face (away) helps!

Huh, what?

Geez, y'all good. My wife and I agree to disagree about how to determine left/right (in bed on your back vs standing at the foot of the bed). So we both sleep on the right side.
Which one of you are on-top?
It best be, the lighter of the two.

Which side of the bed do you sleep on and why?
Looking at the bed from the headboard to the foot board, do you sleep on the left side, or the right side?

I'm interested to see if there's a gender trend for a side and if so why that might be. Or, something else, like male sleeps on the side closest to the door--presumably able then to stop an intruder and protect the other occupant.

Does it make any difference if you're right or left handed...possibly an aid during amorous endeavors?

I slept on the right side with my first wife, and on the left side thereafter. Can't really remember it being a conscious decision, it just happened.

We spend about 25-30 percent of our day in that real estate and I'm wondering why, how it gets picked.
For me it doesn't matter which side other than the closest to the door. Whether it is in a hotel, or we are camping or at home it is always nearest the the door. My wife feels safer if I get killed first when someone breaks in!

Left side for me. I really don't care, I learned to sleep anywhere in the military.

My wife insists she can only sleep on the right side. Reality, I usually end up on the edge and she splays over 3/4 of the matress.

I sleep on the side with no covers apparently. Doesn't seem to matter which side that is.
My wife steals covers, then buries me in them. The joy of sleeping with a wife in the midst of "the change".

I sleep slightly to the right of center on the side with the door to the restroom. I used to switch and sleep on the left in the winter just to keep from wearing out the mattress lopsided but now I can just barely walk and so stiff so I don't want to have to walk in the middle of the night. I might fall down.

My dog sleeps on the left of me. I have to turn over about every 2 hours because of old age. I have to sleep with my right arm straight out because of an old compressed nerve that will act up if I don't. I have to sleep with my left arm if I'm laying on that side at a certain angle because I have a fully torn rotator cuff on that side.

When young I used to sleep on my back some but I can't really do that anymore for very long especially since I watch TV that way.

Ah yes, I remember those nights jumping out of bed, her all sweaty, me opening the window and snow coming in. Good times.
