I’m not really a movie fan, but pre-covid we were going once a week to every 2 weeks. Not happening anytime soon.

I’m looking forward to “I'm Thinking of Ending Things”. Hits Netflix on Friday.

It won't be any time soon (nothing worth watching) but I'm actually kind of excited to go to the movie theater. I hate sitting next to people and now I won't have to! The theatre near me is leaving 4-5 empty seats between couples, and no one directly infront or behind. And the price is only $2-3 more. It's perfect.

I haven't been to a movie theater in ages. Popcorn, raisinets, and a cherry coke. 🤗
Being retired has pros and cons

Having a nice lunch before a Tuesday 1 PM matinee and having the auditorium to ourselves is nice (so are pre covid $6 tix).

Having the auditorium to ourselves makes us easy targets.

I hope Mrs P doesn’t send me to an asylum. I caught a glimpse of the TV and apparently Carol ****ing Baskin is going to be on Dancing with the Stars, I’m not a fan but I lost my **** so hard. Mrs P never saw it and has no idea who Carol ****ing Baskin is, making even funnier but potentially getting me committed.

Someone recently got banned, and I think it makes this forum a happier place when this person is banned.
The person in question has some good input. If (and that's a mighty big if) they can get a handle on their aggressiveness and tone down their prickly pear persona, their input would be more appreciated. Oh, yeah, and stop writing such damn long responses! (just had to throw that in there because, well because, I have a short attention span).

When I go into a store and I’m walking the aisles, everyone’s wearing masks like it’s normal- myself included. But when I stop to really think about it, I still can’t believe this is happening. Deadly diseases, people rioting on the streets, people going crazy everywhere, all of the hatred for our president, limits on Lysol and toilet paper, having to make up new words like ‘social distancing’, headed for war most likely, I mean wowwww... This is the new ‘normal’.. I just can’t wrap my head around it all. Talk about surreal. 😞

@Blondilocks - I just saw on national news that a wildfire is raging near San Diego. Where is it exactly? Anywhere near I-8? Between the record heat and the wildfires ... well, I'm glad I'm not there for the long holiday weekend!

Yesterday, it was 103 deg here. Today, it's supposed to get to 109 deg. WTH? It's going to be hotter than Tucson!
You send us Californians, we send you our weather. (Says a transplant who’s been here 9 weeks.)

Next week we may have a few sub 100 days and no more nighttime lows in the 90s and hopefully no more 110+ highs. I want drinks on the patio, it looks awesome as the sun is setting, except it’s still 110.

The summer temperatures are tough on me and I feel guilty because my little dog would like me to go outside with her some and if I did, she would do more running around. Since the other dog died a few months ago, she just doesn't go out as much. I have to pretend I'm going out with her at night to get her to go out and pee before bed. And with me being home all the time now because of covid, she's also become more whiny if I have to leave the house.

It will be cooler soon..

It's called the Valley Fire and is near Alpine - out by the Sycuan Indian Res & Casino. Cleveland National Forest. It started south-east of Alpine. So far, I-8 doesn't appear to be affected. Those poor people also lost electricity in this damn heat.

There is a wildfire raging up near Yucaipa (about 2 hours north in San Bernardino county) that was started by a smoke generating device at a gender reveal party. 7000 acres so far.

Hey, Charlie, I read where Phoenix housing prices are going up, up, up. Amongst the highest rising in the nation. Looks like you bought at a good time.

Get yourself one of those umbrellas with a misting device and it will cool you down considerably. We used to brave Palm Springs in the summer occasionally and the main drag with all of the boutiques had awnings with the misting and it was remarkable how much more comfortable it made walking.
