Hi TAM, this is my very first Thanksgiving alone. My kids aren't here. My Grandmother passed in 2019. This divorce has been difficult and I know holidays will be hard. But I'm going to be Thankful for today and all the days to come! Happy Thanksgiving TAM!!

Today, I'd much rather be alone. But it's just best to find something that you love doing as a way to distract yourself. I think that time still heals most wounds.

I spent my first Christmas alone. I stayed in my p.j.’s all day and ate ice cream for breakfast and binge-watched some Netflix shows I’d been meaning to get around to. Then I took a long nap and ate more ice cream. I was living in the city then and took a nice walk around. Then I ate more ice cream. It was actually a lovely day and I greatly enjoyed it. By the time my child and grandchildren were back in town I was rested (and full of ice cream) and ready to enjoy my holiday with them. The first holidays and birthdays after a divorce are not easy. Do what you wish to do and don’t do anything you don’t wish to do. Most of us have been in your shoes. It gets better. Much better

Thank you, I'm just here appreciating being in my own company. That part of NOT DOING ANYTHING I DONT WANT TO DO! I have been invited to a few dinners but I don't want to go and I don't have to!

This is my 4th holiday season since my divorce. My first Thanksgiving I did have my two daughters over (older kids) but my oven died halfway through the day lol!

Today I’m alone but making it a nice day. Slept in, coffee, yummy pasta lunch and then a nap. Hot bath and a pedicure is next with a date planned with my couch and a movie later.
Thanksgiving with my girls will be on Saturday.

I know what it's like. Have been divorced twice. First holiday after separation is really tough. It won't always be like this. You'll rebuild your life. Alone or with a partner. In my experience, either way can be great. Just not right away. One must mourn one's losses and then space opens for something new.

I got up and change the bed and then showered and ate my holiday meal that I made yesterday and watched Gunsmoke. And then I'm doing some laundry. Just had a Häagen-Dazs ice cream treat and watching more Gunsmoke. I'm thinking about renting the Elvis movie. I'm hoping it will keep me from shopping online.

Yes, I will not be doing any shopping!. I've binge-watched 1899 and I'm having a drink before bed. Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, that feeling of freedom is priceless. I was married for a very long time and during those decades I did many things that I didn’t want to do because … marriage. When I decided to get a divorce I promised myself that those days were gone forever. And they are. Now it’s all about what I want to do and when I want to do it. I finally have peace in my life and I wouldn’t trade it for any other life than the one I have.

❤❤❤❤ when you find that peace it's irreplaceable. My mind and heart is at peace.

You have a great attitude! I, too, relish my peace during this time of year. I was married to an alcoholic, and for some reason I never understood, he enjoyed generating all sorts of drama from Thanksgiving through New Year's.

I have no problem being alone for the holidays. The peace if absolutely priceless.

Thank you, being married to someone with a problem is stressful. Not just drugs and alcohol, ego's too.

It's pretty good, you have to pay attention or you will miss a lot. Is that the Good Nurse?
