No I'm not saying that there aren't bad practitioners out there and I genuinely don't want to discount how you perceived things. But take a step back for a moment. I would assume you agree that the vast and I mean vast majority of medical professionals conduct themselves in a professional manner. Even if they don't have the best bed side manor they don't behave unethically. Now, you, a person that has serious anxiety over modesty and showing his genitals, even to medical professionals, happens to find the rare doctor AND nurse that would act so inappropriately. It isn't impossible, but I hope you can see that your perception of things could be influenced by your anxiety. Your PCP only had your account to go on too, so he really can't make an educated call. I'm sure how you described it he saw it as inappropriate. What obvious issues? Modesty?
They both acted inappropriately. If you can, please tell me how this incident could be anything but inappropriate. The PCP agreed with me.
Do you honestly think that all professionals are on the up and up? I know quite a few prostate cancer victims regret having that delusion. You can easily find quite a few instances of medical professionals getting out of line. Maybe the most well noted are molestation of our young lady athletes.
I deal with people as individuals, not as part of some stereotype such as that of the medical community. There are good there are bad, there are capable and there are incompetent, there are honest and there are dishonest. I've seen some of each.No I'm not saying that there aren't bad practitioners out there and I genuinely don't want to discount how you perceived things. But take a step back for a moment. And again, the cast majority of doctors behave ethically. Pleaser don't paint all doctors to be a LArry Nassar. He is an EXTREME case and simply a predator.
I beleive you that it was inappropriate. but you do seem to have a different view of modesty in a medical setting compared to every other person in this thread. It appears no one else here would even consider that their spouse would have an issue with them being exposed infornt of a medical professionalI deal with people as individuals, not as part of some stereotype such as that of the medical community. There are a number of Larry Nassars on a more local level who have been in the news. Including at least one dentist. Not to mention several instances of nurses killing patients.
I deal with more men than you could believe who have been screwed by urologists who are self serving in the advice they give. And I hear from their wives as well. They are left unable to have relations with their wives and incontinent.
It is heart breaking to see these folks blindly accepting what a second opinion would say is bad advice.
No, I have the normal level of modesty if you go back and reread my posts. Have you ever permitted a group of people to stare up your rectum? I have. I do insist that doctors respect my feelings of modesty where others might just swallow it. I know that "real men" think it is manly to flaunt their erections, but I'm not part of that group think.
The doctor and nurse did act inappropriately and all the god head conferred on them as medical providers doesn't change facts.
Considering the threads on misbehaving partners, it was a question of how they would view, not the partner being exposed, but having to be sexually aroused. A totally different level of modesty.I beleive you that it was inappropriate. but you do seem to have a different view of modesty in a medical setting compared to every other person in this thread. What the staff feels is irrelevant. What matters is the comfort of the patient. When I was in labor I was being quite shy and a nurse looked me dead in the eye and said "Honey if there was something special going on down there we'd ALL be in here having a look".
So I am here to pass that information on to you, your junk is not special to anyone but you and your wife.
Or his wife'sNot to be harsh, but this seems like something you may need to seek therapy for. Medical professionals can of course be bad people, but that would be exceptional rare. I get a sense of paranoia that you think everyone is sexually interested in your genitalia.
My wife has no expressed paranoia. Given the complaints and situations I see in TAM my original question was whether other women are paranoid.Or his wife's
I dont want to flaunt my goods to anyone but my wife. I would be less hesitant to be exposed to my male urologist than to his wife, the female urologist. You are fortunate to not have to deal with inhibitions. I understand that men are supposed to look forward to being able to flaunt their goods, but I don't subscribe to that stereotype.
Not about big deal to them, to a modest person, it is a big deal to them. My wife does not even like having mammograms, not just because they smash the tits, but she does not even like the tech touching her breasts. You’ve posted before on a similar topic, concern about getting hard in the presence of a female doctor. Honestly, they have seen it before. It’s no big deal to them.
Wonder if they would allow wife in room to help you on that front😁It's not about having to relate to the provider in the future. Couldn't care less. It is that anyone other than my wife is involved when I am sexually aroused.
You referring to a PPG.One practice when using the device that may or may not be involve with this appointment is to place the two sensors that ring the penis at base and just under the glans then have the patient view sexually stimulating material to produce erections.
I have more issues with becoming flaccid on demand.
Yes there are, they are inserted and measure contractions in vagina and changes in lubrication of the walls.I wonder whether there are exams that require women to be sexually aroused.
I'm completely on board with your comments.
Personally, I don't see the problem.Or suspicious? How would your wife react? Ever been in here?
Most people do not enjoy being probed etc. Oh these 10 people in the room are med students here to watch procedures for giving prostate exam. Don't worry, nothing is wrong but I will have my index ☝ inserted in your rectum for an extended amount of time while explaining what I am doing to the group.No. Not at all. Because you are so apprehensive of being naked with doctors who are trying to help you. That's not good.
Male or female make no difference to me after the experiences I've had. They can both be equally caring or equally uncomfortable.I dont want to flaunt my goods to anyone but my wife. I would be less hesitant to be exposed to my male urologist than to his wife, the female urologist.
Fortunately, the students in my case just observed the gastro doc banding my hemorrhoids. No hands on.Most people do not enjoy being probed etc. Oh these 10 people in the room are med students here to watch procedures for giving prostate exam. Hope your not modest, most of these med students are hands on and need get in there and see for themselves what I am telling them. It's all good though, they are learning to help ID prostate problems. 😁 Think of it this way, you can get 11 prostate exams for price of one.
That seriously set me to thinking about how I would feel if my wife is part of the audience. Interesting thought.Wonder if they would allow wife in room to help you on that front😁
My wife is present when I get massage by female. Went to my sister's massage therapist. Back issue. She said get undressed as comfortable as I can and cover with sheet. I took off my shoes and shirt. She came back in and laughed, said I was just like my 72 yr old brother-in-law. We both kept our jeans and sox on. I thought she was gonna work on back. She started with feet. Said Joints in lower half correspond to pain in the joints in upper. That seriously set me to thinking about how I would feel if my wife is part of the audience. Interesting thought.
However, she won't even act as chaperone for outcall massage for me. Without a chaperone, there is no way I'm doing outcall massage.
