Rolling Stones said it best. What a drag it is getting old.

When my wife went through menopause, the usual issues came with it. Dryness, pain, and the lack of wanting to even try PIV due to it all. Combine that with the difference in how men and women get aroused and, suffice to say, our sex life slowly changed.

She wasn’t happy about things, but I’m sure she could have been easier on herself if my drive was not so strong. We compensated in other ways, but our options were/are limited. Her mouth is small and BJ’s are not comfortable to perform, plus, she is grossed out by the potential liquids that can be there. She just doesn’t like doing that. If she doesn’t like something, I don’t want her to do it.

She is an anal virgin who has no interest in that anyway and, being north of 60, I would not ask her to try that now. I understand.

She tried the Estradiol cream a while ago, but the act of having to apply it didn’t get rolled into the nightly routine and it never got a chance to take effect. Just seemed too high maintenance and I wasn’t going to try to force it.

Fast forward to the past month or so. Up until now, we made do with some great toys and marital aids, but she knows how badly I missed PIV. And it wasn’t just me. She missed it too, so she decided to give the cream another shot.

After a few weeks of being vigilant about it…. TA-DAAAAA! Success! We have had PIV about 3 times in the past week and she was not in pain.

We’re back! Right? Well, not really…

Now it is ME with the issues. I can get erect and maintain the erection while being physically stimulated, but I seem to lose a little of it during the little time it takes to position and apply a quick bit of lube for entry.

When it’s time to play, I go away😡

I have to retake matters into my own hand, then go in ASAP.

So, I have drive. Foreplay does give me the rigidity, but it’s like a balloon with a hole in it. As long as air is going in, it will look right. The minute ya stop blowing in it, buh- bye.

I’m gonna try a ring next. I DO have substantially low T and my doc did one injection over a year ago, but I never did do another one. Wondering if that would help at all. Sure won’t hurt and it would help in other areas too.

Anyone ever dealt with this? I hate that she was able to bring this back to us and now I am hindering the joy.

A (healthy) vegan diet, elimination of alcohol and a strenuous resistance training routine (heavy weight lifting) will work wonders for increasing erection performance and your T levels should come up.

There's also a lot of foods and supplements that help naturally raise T levels.

I just had my T levels checked last week because I’m having trouble gaining muscle mass from working out. All my levels turned out normal but before the doc knew that he said I’d be giving myself shots 3 times a week at home if my levels were low. By that statement I’m guessing that one shot from your doctor did pretty much nothing.

Unfortunately, starting T injections shuts down your own production.

Yep. Bio available testosterone one likely problem. When I was castrate I could become aroused, but it's heavily dependent on erotic focus and distractions of any kind killed it. Needed testosterone to drive through the distractions.

Another would be the muscles in the penis that control blood flow. Sometimes we have problems with the smooth muscles and end up with a "leak".

I'm currently looking at increasing bio available testosterone. It is affected by much more than just total testosterone so I intend to avoid TRT unless everything else fails. Example, you can have good total testosterone, but with too much Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) that testosterone is locked up and not used by the body.

WTF! One injection!! They should be weekly if not bi-weekly, what kind of a kwack did you go to!!!?

You can inject yourself. Go see urologist or something. 10cc vial lasts 10 weeks. I was taking .5cc 2x week. T level 1150. Cat can't scratch it and a 💎 won't cut it!

Your wife meets to have her levels checked, she should be on Estrodial, testosterone and progesterone if in full menopause. My wife is 54 and our sex life could be the envy of a 30 yrs old couple. I'm on T cream and she is on all 3.

So I’ll try to address the responses here.

For what it’s worth, while I have always ate whatever I wanted and, while I am medically overweight, I have always carried it well. In other words, I donor “look” significantly out of shape. Also, I am very active. I have been working out a lot with a newfound passion to get healthier. I‘ve lost weight since Christmas and it shows. I don’t drink. Don’t smoke.

Up until just a few years ago, I had no problems in this department. In fact, even in my 40’s, I could maintain and go for another round without needing to stop during the refractory period. So this is all new to me and, admittedly, a blow to my ego.

Diet:
Of course I will consider a proper nutritional plan, but when I go down that road, everybody and their brother have different ideas that they swear by. There is no end to the amount of diets and supplements aimed at ED and low T.

Viagra/generics:
Aren't there significant side affects? Years ago, my BP was creeping up. It wasn’t extreme, but doc put me on a one-a-day pill that keeps it in the normal range. I do believe I’m about 15 pounds away from being able to stop those. I did it before. Will make it stick this time. But aren’t there dangers of these pills and BP meds?
Also, I feel like taking a pill would be hard to schedule. We have busy lives. Sometimes we don’t do anything in bed at night except watch a little TV and go to sleep. But then we might wake up early and have a romp. How do you fit a pill in the right moment of that lack of routine?

Low T:
Is this even something to peruse if everything else seems fine? I do necessarily WANT to take injections if I don't need to or if it has no effect on maintaining an erection. I can live with all the other consequences. Erection difficulties are often a physical issue that T won’t overcome. That said, from what I read, the fact that I DO get erections means I don’t really have ED. I DO get it up. As I am thinking about that, I guess it does take more effort and direct stimulation these days to get there too.

I'm in the same boat and I think that you are on the right track. I had my T checked (high end of normal), tried the pills (they didn't work) and so I use a ring. It works quite well and have used it for years. Just remember not to leave it on too long, like no more than 20-30 minutes. You don't want your weenier falling off.

He gave me one with the instructions to come back in a month and he would show me how to do them myself. It was me that never went back.

My wife is well past Menopause. She also had a hysterectomy before she was 30. Before Menopause, she was game for great sex and flowed like a fountain before I got near her V. Everything worked great. Today, she seems very healthy with good ambition for life. Dryness and pain were the only thing stopping her. The Estradoil cream seems to have worked for that.

Also, when my wife was 54, I was 47. Our sex life was off the hook at that time. She will be 63 soon, so a lot of our issues could be a natural progression. We plan to fight the aging Process when it comes to sex.

Read all about them and do see that it needs to come off after 20-30 minutes. I actually wasn’t sure if that would hurt or be really uncomfortable. I literally tried an elastic hair tie to see if I should even explore that option. I was pleasantly impressed at the results. I imagine a purpose made ring would be even better.

The progesterone also helps with dryness and restful sleep. It also helps balance T and Estrodial levels. T helps her with sex drive and brain function/memory.

She would love to get better sleep. It was our primary care doc who suggested the cream. She plans to bring it up to her OBGYN at her next appt to get that treatment from a more appropriate source. At that time, she will ask about the other supplements.

To clarify, she takes nothing orally. The cream is a local application about twice a week.

I would suggest she do the lube herself before you guys are even messing around. So you don't have to stop. Of course that's assuming you know you're going to have sex..

That cream needs to be used regularly as prescribed and not just when you think you need lubrication because it's a hormone not a lubricator. So when I talk about lube I'm talking about lube like you get at Walmart.
